The Faith-Based Service Alliance is a coalition of veteran service organizations that provides military active duty, veterans, and their families with viable faith-based programs that lead to mental stability, physical strength, spiritual growth, and community involvement.

Mental

Peer-Based Programs
Peer-based programs represent an approach to provide informal support for each other through informal gatherings, education, mentoring, and online platforms.
Licensed Mental Health Therapy
Licensed mental health therapy is carried out by a licensed mental health provider usually a psychologist, psychiatrist, or social worker. These professionals work with a treatment plan and specialize in trauma and mental health. Treatments can range from counseling to psychotherapy.
Relationship/ Family Therapy
Counseling provided to the warrior and family members to improve communication and resolve conflict.
Creative Therapy
Art and music therapy improve cognitive function, fosters self-esteem, and emotional resilience.
Couples Retreat
Weekend retreats to help couples build relationship resiliency.

Physical

Physical Therapy
Physical therapy can be used to address pain, injury, and function in order to live better, this can also include strength and conditioning.
Alternative PTSD/TBI Treatment Modalities
Stellate ganglion block (SGB) is used to relieve chronic pain and calm the “fight or flight” reflex. Personalized Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (PRTMS) is a non-invasive technique that stimulates brain structures and networks to help control the symptoms of PTSD. Acupuncture is an ancient treatment modality that has been used with great success, to treat symptoms of PTSD and mild TBI.
Cognitive Rehabilitation Therapy (CRT)
Cognitive therapy targets attention, concentration, orientation, word retrieval, and executive functioning issues Often caused by mild TBI, Vestibular Disfunction affects the inner ear and brain areas that control balance and eye movement leading to vertigo and dizziness. Neuropsychologists and Therapists treat this disfunction, empower the warrior, and educate them on ways to improve their lives and compensate for areas of weakness.
Sleep Therapy
Sleep therapy begins with an evaluation either with a sleep medicine specialist or a wearable device to determine the type of sleep disorder. Once the sleep issue is identified different treatment options are implemented along with education on proper sleep hygiene. Wearable use will continue to monitor changes and improvements in sleep over time.

Spiritual

Resources
Educational reading materials and workbooks including discussion guides with psychological, spiritual, and social topics. The Warrior’s Challenge, Surrender Only to One, Ethos, Path to Resiliency, and The Truth about PTSd books and materials are provided to each warrior.
Mentorship
Mentors encourage and counsel warriors during their journey to resiliency to help participants reach their goals.
Support Groups
Support groups provide an opportunity for people to share personal experiences and feelings, coping strategies, or treatments.
Bible Studies
Studies led by church-based ministries, chaplains or small group leaders foster a faith in God while facing difficult circumstances.

Social

Community Group Involvement
Community programs provide opportunities for the warrior to engage in service projects locally nationally, and globally.
Recreational Therapy
Recreation therapy is activity-based interventions to address the needs of the warrior as a means to psychological and physical health. Equine therapy utilizes horses and other equines to promote human physical and mental health.
